信息和通信技術(shù)(ICT)，帶有位置傳感器的移動設(shè)備等已經(jīng)成為了物聯(lián)網(wǎng)(IoT)的范式。早在十年前，全球互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上的設(shè)備數(shù)量就超過了人口的數(shù)量。2008年，美國國家情報委員會預測，物聯(lián)網(wǎng)將成為六大顛覆性民用技術(shù)之一——“到2025年，互聯(lián)網(wǎng)節(jié)點可能存在于日常生活中的點點滴滴，如食品包裝，家具，紙質(zhì)文件等等。”近年來，低成本傳感器的發(fā)展，云計算資源成本的降低，人工智能(AI)和開源機器學習平臺的推廣，共同推動了物聯(lián)網(wǎng)以及地理信息技術(shù)(GIS)的發(fā)展和應用。
國際攝影測量與遙感學會(ISPRS)第四委員會第六工作組(ISPRS Commission IV / WG 6)——“物聯(lián)網(wǎng)與空間決策支持” (Internet of Things and Spatial Decision Support)特此在國際學術(shù)期刊ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information組織了一期 “物聯(lián)網(wǎng)在地理空間的應用” (Geospatial Applications of the Internet of Things (IoT)) 特刊，以交流相關(guān)領(lǐng)域最新進展。
聚焦物聯(lián)網(wǎng)在地理空間的創(chuàng)新與應用，本特刊歡迎從“物” 的角度(例如傳感器網(wǎng)絡(luò)和集成中的最新技術(shù))，“語義”的角度(例如物聯(lián)網(wǎng)產(chǎn)生的信息的表達、存儲、共享、互連、搜索、組織)，以及解決方案的角度(例如，智慧城市、社區(qū)，智慧生態(tài)和智慧農(nóng)業(yè)應用等)的來稿。
